From Christine Mullen, President of the Australian Fan Club.

*** URGENT NOTICE TO ALL FANS OF JACKIE CHAN ***

*** SHANGHAI NOON PREMIERE in GERMANY - October 12 & 13, 2000 ***

There is to be a premiere and also a preview screening of SHANGHAI NOON in GERMANY - each of which Jackie will attend on two consecutive days - October 12 and 13, 2000...

SHANGHAI NOON PREMIERE - COLOGNE, Germany
October 12, 2000 at the CINEDOM cinema in Cologne.

SHANGHAI NOON PREVIEW - HANOVER, Germany
October 13, 2000 at the CINEMAXX cinema in Hanover.

The film distributor in Germany is compiling a list of fans who can attend either the Premiere in Cologne on October 12, or the Preview screening in Hanover on October 13. (Jackie will make an appearance at both screenings).

This opportunity is open to ALL Jackie fans, whether they are J.C. fan club members or not, as it is being organised by the film's distributor in Germany and not by any of the official J.C. fan clubs. So therefore, feel free to pass this information on to any one you know who might be interested in attending either of the two screenings of Shanghai Noon on October 12 & 13, 2000 in Germany.

In order to be put on the list for attending the premiere or the preview screening people should contact the following person in Germany.:
Ms. ANDREA RENKEL
E-mail Address: asianhawk8@aol.com

Andrea will tell you the details of the premiere, and if you are certain you can attend, will put you down on the list for attending one of the two screenings. (The tickets are probably being SOLD for the screenings, not given away, so confirm that aspect with Andrea when you contact her). I am sure seats are also limited, so it will be a case of first in first served for securing a place at either screening.

The DEADLINE for contacting Ms. Andrea Renkel regarding these Shanghai Noon screenings in Germany is OCTOBER 9, 2000.

*IMPORTANT NOTE.: I'm sure that the list being compiled is only for those people who "can" and "will" attend either screening, not for those who "think" they might be able to attend. So please make sure you are 100% certain you "are" going to be attending one of the screenings before having your name put on the list, to be fair to all around. However, if, after you are put on the list to attend, you end up realising/finding out that you can NOT attend after all, for whatever reasons, please do ensure you get immediately back in touch with Ms. Andrea Renkel to have your name removed from the list, to make way for someone else instead! Thank You all for your consideration!

As you only have until Monday OCTOBER 9 to get in touch with Andrea, if you want to and can attend either screening, then you should act on it immediately...

*NOTE.: If you belong to any online Internet Jackie Chan mailing lists, news lists, message boards, or forums, etc., where this information has not as yet appeared, or have any friends living in Germany, or countries nearby, please do pass it/post all this information on... Thank You!

Also, below is the official Germany movie web site for Shanghai Noon...
The German web site is planning to run a a sweepstakes and the winner will receive free tickets to one of the two screenings. So if you are interested, hop on over to this web site and see if they have the competition up and running yet and join in. Or, simply visit to have a look around the Official German movie Web Site for Shanghai Noon.

SHANGHAI NOON MOVIE WEB SITE - GERMANY
http://www.shang-high-noon.de
SHANGHAI NOON officially opens at cinema's in Germany on October 19, 2000... If you live in Germany, or nearby, make sure you do hop on in to see Shanghai Noon when it opens there on October 19! It's an excellent film, it's great fun, and you are sure to have a good time! Enjoy!

(*NOTE.: With many thanks to Ms. Andrea Renkel of Germany for all the above information)...

A REMINDER: Shanghai Noon also opens in October in RUSSIA. Jackie will be in Russia for one day only on October 16, 2000. However, this is the only information that I have regarding Jackie's visit to Russia.

I've no information at this point in time as to whether Jackie is visiting any other countries in Europe other than Germany on October 12 & 13 and Russia on October 16... Perhaps, if you live in any other country in Europe where Shanghai Noon is opening in October, I suggest that you contact the local distributor for Disney / Buena Vista Pictures in your country, and see if they have any information available for the public about the film's release...

Just got a hot tip that Jackie will do a concert in Las Vegas on December 23. I called and got confirmation that he will be at the MGM Grand and do a concert with some other Asian performers. Tickets will go on sale in November and there will be a web site up soon with more information. This will be like a show that he did there back in 1997. What a great Christmas present that would be!

Jackie Chan to play a different Toon
Cartoon Flick
Warner Brothers is coming up with a TV animated series of Jackie Chan's martial arts character that will also celebrate mystical Chinese culture PALM BEACH (Florida) -- If you are pitching a new animated series starring Jackie Chan, there is no better way to sell it than by letting the international martial arts star do it himself.
"Jackie would get up and just demonstrate all the things he wanted to do,'' says Mr Jeff Klein, an executive producer of Jackie Chan Adventures. He adds: "He scared the hell out of Warner Bros executives. That is why they bought the show.''
Producers describe the show as ""Indiana Jones meets David Copperfield''. It will also celebrate Chinese culture.
"We wanted to put a different spin on the show,'' Mr Klein says. ""Jackie lives in Hongkong and was born in China, so it would've been silly of us not to take advantage of that. So we can tie into some of the more mystical, historical elements of Chinese culture.''
Chan's managers have hinted at the idea of a Jackie cartoon for some time. Several American TV producers also found the concept intriguing. After all, as Klein notes, more of Chan's films (Shanghai Noon, Rush Hour, Mr. Nice Guy) appealed to young moviegoers. Turning his big-screen persona into a TV cartoon was almost a no-brainer.
And Klein is not worried about Chan making it as a Saturday morning 'toon. "Jackie's already a human cartoon,'' he contends. "He does amazing things with his body, and he has big facial expressions. We just took the action further, without losing his very human, Charlie Chaplin-like quality.'' As Chan is never a bully in his films, the producers have made sure that Chan appeared as only a reactionary character.
"He will not go out looking for a fight,'' says John Rogers, who helped to develop the show. "Trouble just happens to him. That's why we didn't want to make him a police officer.''
With his hectic filming schedule and broken English, however, Chan has not lent his voice to his character. A hired actor did most of the dialogue. When you hear Jackie grunt, moan and yell, however, that's Chan.
"He spent a few hours recording only sound effects,'' says Mr Klein. ""It was the weirdest thing.''
And what does Chan, think of the finished product?
"He loves the idea that he'll never age and that he can do stuff that won't give him a bad back,'' Mr Klein says. --NYT

What to expect

In the cartoon series, Jackie Chan plays an archaeologist and a special government agent. With the help of his 11-year-old tomboy niece, he travels the globe to recover 12 artefacts that hold unique and magical powers. At the end of each show, a live-action Chan will answer questions which viewers e-mail to the Kids' WB! website ( www.kidswb.com ).-- NYT

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - MGM is in advanced talks with Jackie Chan to co-star in an update of the 1960 Jerry Lewis comedy vehicle 'The Bellboy.' The original picture follows a bellboy (Lewis) as he undergoes a number of zany misadventures at Miami's Fountainbleau Hotel. With Chan set to share top billing, it appears the remake will depart quite a bit from the original. Details of the co-star have not been announced.
(sounds cute!)

Jackie's Adventures

Judi saw this description of the new fall cartoon on the WB network in the latest issue of Screen Power. Jade, you ought to love this.

The animated, "Jackie Chan Adventures" series for kids, casts him as an ancient artifact expert and a special agent for the government's secret Section 13. Along for the ride is Jade, his 11 year old tomboy neice, who becomes his apprentice and partner in adventure. When Jade and Jackie stumble onto a conspiracy led by an evil crime family, they embark on a global quest to recover 12 magical talismans: powerful artifacts representing signs of the Chinese zodiac that have been scattered around the world. Each talisman holds a unique magical power, and if are combined, will unleash a massive power.

Jackie is supposed to lend his voice for the lead character. He is also scheduled to appear in live-action segments in each episode.

***AN ANIMATION BLAST EXCLUSIVE***

A reliable source at Warner Bros. is reporting that Kids WB! is heading in an action-adventure direction for the fall 2000 season. The Pokemon-addicted network is very close to picking up a new JACKIE CHAN animated series. I really hope they use Chan's actual voice because when he speaks English, it's a non-stop laughfest. And honestly, that's the only redeeming quality I can see to such a series.
